Jeffrey A. Lewis
Jeffrey A. Lewis, 57, has moved on to happier hunting grounds. He passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of November 25, 2022, surrounded by loving family. Jeff fought off the reaper more than once. Sadly this time, cancer won before Jeff knew there was a fight to win. He passed with authority, making sure not to interfere with Thanksgiving or mess with his favorite day of the year, the first day of deer rifle season.
Jeff was born Dec. 11, 1964. He was a graduate of Seneca High School and lived most of his life not far from the Greenfield Township home he grew up in. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman all his life, being sure to scan for deer in the fields even in his final days. Dumpster drive-bys became his favorite pastime when he could no longer navigate the woods. Jeff was one of the best blacksmiths around and well respected in the equine community. He would never be the one to say he was one of the best, but every one of his customers in the tri-state area surely would. Jeff never met a beer he didn’t like; his favorite was the cheapest and his snuff can was never far away. Jeff was a worrier. He reminded his loved ones regularly of how they scared him to death with their shenanigans and adventures.
Jeff is survived by his father, Merle Lewis; his daughter, Halie Lewis; his son, Trevor Lewis; his sisters, Lori Zaumseil (Troy) and Jodi Gray (Scotty the Pirate King); family and friends near and far, and his loyal pup Otter Dog.
Jeff was preceded in death by his mother, Lois (Banister) Lewis.
Heartfelt thanks to Jeff’s dear friends at Nova Care on Clay St in North East for keeping him strong through his battle. It meant everything to Jeff to remain mobile until the end. And to Aseracare for orchestrating the peaceful transition for Jeff and his family.
There will be no services at Jeff’s request. He threw a heck of party while he was still able. Special thanks to everyone who attended Jeff’s FFFA 2022. He enjoyed every moment, including his last dance.
Memorial contributions may be made in Jeff’s name to the Lowville Food Pantry, 13427 State Hwy 8, Wattsburg, PA 16442.
