 Mary Lee (Groves) Thomas

Mary Lee Thomas passed away at her home on January 29, 2021 in Erie Pa.

Born in Youngstown, Ohio on April 19, 1930, she was the daughter of the late John T. Groves and Alice Baldwin Groves.

Mary loved her family, she enjoyed doing word puzzles, and watching the price is right. She also enjoyed watching her youngest son Matt Thomas, number 19, race. Going to races was the highlight of her week.

Mary is survived by her children, Danny Thomas(Mary), Mark Thomas, Kelly Thomas, Shelly Thomas Payne (William Eric), and Mathew Thomas (Lisa). She had 10 grandchildren, Dana, Doug, Dennis, George, Tina, Nathan, Garrett, Brandon, Kioko, and Cory; 15 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, George l. Thomas; her partner, Merle l. Graves; her sister, Rosalind Groves, and three brothers, Wellington, John T., and Benjamin Groves.

 We would like to thank the entire Interim Hospice team and her special caregivers for all their support.

Friends may call at Askins Cremation Funeral Services, 8354 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, PA 16509 on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.  CDC guidelines will be followed. 

Private burial will be at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the funeral home to help defray expenses.
