Mark Edward Mattson
Mark Edward Mattson, age 56, of Millcreek Township, passed away at home, with his wife Tanya by his side, on Wednesday, November 2, 2016.
Born in Erie, PA on March 1, 1960, he was a son of the late Dury L. Mattson, Jr., and Joan (Hoehn) Mattson.
Mark and Tanya L. Geerken were married on February 29, 2008.
Mark loved to laugh and make people laugh. He was a jokester, always knew a good prank.
Mark was a member, Newsletter Editor, fixer, and PC geek for Computer Users of Erie [CUE]. Mark had volunteered at M.D.A. since the age of 16. 30+ years. He loved tinkering with electronics, repairing/building computers, photography, and there was a special place in his heart for their pets. Mark was an animal lover - raising everything from a bunny, a clowder of cats to dogs.
Mark was an avid hockey fan of the Erie Blades. Loved Erie, it's history and community.
He had started at Monroe Business Machines, Part-timed at Barrilla's Tavern, worked for Ikon/Canon/Ricoh as a Copier Technician until Macular Degeneration took most of his sight.
Mark loved music; listened to Prairie Home Companion for over 20 years every Saturday and staunch supporter of WQLN.
He is survived by his wife, Tanya L. Mattson; 2 brothers, John A. Mattson and his wife, Stacy, of Erie, and Robert A. Mattson of Erie; and 3 nieces, Jamie, Jenna, and Miranda Mattson, all of Erie. Mark has 3 surviving Uncles, one in Erie - Lawrence Mattson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John and Irene Hoehn, and his paternal grandparents, Dury Mattson Sr. and Catherine Mattson.
As per his wishes, there will be no viewing or visitation.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 12:30 PM at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street, Erie, PA 16506.
In lieu of flowers Mark wanted memorial donations to be made to the a Cancer Foundation or Rescue Shelter of your choice in tribute.
