Melquiades Vera, Sr.

Melquiades Vera, Sr., of North East, Pa, was born on December 10th, 1930 in the town of Utuado, Puerto Rico.

He passed away peacefully on December 14th, 2019.

Soon after marrying his first wife, Norma Ramos in 1960, he moved to the continental U.S. to head a new life - working at two factories, 23 years at Zurn Industries, and in the grape fields of North East, Pa.

He is survived by his 6 children from his first marriage: Dennis, Cynthia, Heriberto, Mickey, Peter, and Audrey; by 2 children, Rodney and Justin, from his second marriage to Iva Wygant Vera. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren & 9 great grandchildren.

He was one of 17 children and was preceded in death by his parents Pedro Vera and Leonor Gonzalez.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Iglesia Bautista El Calvario FG, 6366 West Lake Road, Erie, Pa 16505 at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 21, 2019.
