Betty Lou (Rossey) Rogers
Betty Lou Rogers, age 71, of Oil City, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022 at UPMC Hamot in Erie.
Born on May 17, 1951 in Oil City, she was the daughter of the late Louie and Freda (Strain) Rossey.
Betty Lou enjoyed fishing, crossword puzzles, and loved playing Bingo. She was highly devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren. Serving several years in the Navy and stationed in Korea, she earned many awards and commendations including the Joint Service Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, 3 Good Conduct Medals, Navy Expeditionary Medal, and Expert Pistol Shot Medal. She was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church, life member of the PNA, and Oil City VFW Post 464.
Betty Lou is survived by her son, Ray D. Swem and his wife Heather of Oil City; her brother, Louie Rossey and his wife Kathy of Ravenna, OH; her sisters, Emma Jean Rossey of Oil City, Patricia Gharing and her husband Richard of Cooperstown, and Susan Ritchey and her husband Jerry of Cooperstown. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ariela Swem, Landen Swem, and Harper Swem.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Grace M. Kelley.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
