Richard Leo Hermann
Richard Leo Hermann, age 92, of Summit Township, was called to Greater Life on April 25, 2024.
He was born in Erie, PA on February 25, 1932. Richard was the son of the late Mark and Mildred (Taylor) Herman.
Richard graduated from Erie Technical High School in 1950, and then served in the US Navy from 1950-1954 as an Electronics Technician on the destroyer ship Larson in the Atlantic Ocean during the Korean Conflict. After the Navy, Richard worked a career at Ervite Corporation as a manufacturer until his retirement in 1997. Richard was an avid Ham Radio enthusiast all his life. He enjoyed contacting other ham radio hobbyists from all over the globe. Richard also enjoyed his time in his yard planting flowers and shrubs, as well as feeding the birds. He also enjoyed the company of his pet beagle “Andy” as they shared their final years together.
Richard is survived by many brothers and sister in laws as well as by his many nieces and nephews, his friends, and neighbors - most important of them, John and Jennifer Davis, who helped Richard live independently until the time of his death.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by all his siblings including his 7 sisters, Janet Herman, Nancy Herman, Patricia Espy, Marjory Berdis, Kathryn Keverline, Judy Hanas, Anna Shafer, and 4 brothers, Ronald, Thomas, Kenneth, and Gerald Herman.
Per his wishes, there will be no visiting hours and services are private for Richard. If so inclined, memorials may be made to the Wattsburg Wireless Association, 9333 Tate Road, Room 114 Erie, PA 16509, or to a charity of your choice.
