Dorothy (Miraszek) DeLuca
On Sunday, October 16th, Dorothy (Miraszek) DeLuca went to live in the Kingdom of God at age 88 in Erie PA.
She was born in Erie on August 31st, 1934, to Helen and Frank Miraszek on East 13th St.
She graduated from East High School in 1952 and went to work for Erie Resistors. She and her husband James Deluca, wed on May 30th, 1955, at St. Patrick's Church. She enjoyed working the lottery desk and interacting with patrons at Al Deluca’s State News and Variety Store, on 5th and State for more than 10 years. ‘Dot’ loved the beaches at Presque Isle, card games with her large family and trying her luck at the casino. However, first and foremost, she loved dedicating her life to her family.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years James Deluca (92); her children, Beverly Kraus, and her husband Tom of Erie, Jim Deluca from Washington DC, Barbara Ziegler, and her husband Brian of Erie; her 5 grand-children, Bonnie Endres and her husband Paul of Greer, South Carolina, Tammie Kraus of Erie PA, Victoria Taylor and her husband Greg of Albion, Karly Ziegler of Baltimore MD, and Cory Ziegler and his fiancé Kristen of Baltimore MD, as well as 6 great grand-children, Nikolai, Alexis, Makayla, Randi, Lila, and Ashton. This Matriarch will be profoundly missed by her family, and her legacy will continue to grow through them.
She is preceded in death by her mother, father, brothers Joe and Donald, as well as her dear sissy-poo, Mary Ann. She is also preceded by 9 of the 11 Deluca siblings that embraced her as family for 70+ years.
As a devotee of the performing arts, in lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to The Erie Performing Artists Collective Alliance (PACA) in her memoriam (814-616-7222 or www.paca1505.org).
