Robert Ronald Rickrode
On November 7, 2023 our brother, Robert Ronald “Bobby” Rickrode, aged 74,
peacefully passed into God’s graces.
Bobby was born in Erie, PA on October 9, 1949. He was the oldest son of Robert
Edward “Bob” Rickrode and Lucille Scully Rickrode.
Bobby stood out in his family for his keen and self-determined character. If he was
determined to do, or not to do, something then he could not be persuaded
differently. That was Bobby’s strength. He is perhaps remembered as stubborn, but
also affectionate and good-natured.
His life was punctuated by both tragedies as well as triumphs. He coped, as did the
whole Rickrode family, with the untimely death of their mother in 1967, the death of
Bobby’s young daughter Barbara and the death of his wife, Sheila.
In his brightest moments he was an enthusiastic Cleveland Browns fan in a family of
Steelers and Green Bay fans. He loved to socialize with his buddies at the
Wesleyville Athletic Club, hang out in his garage on Nancy Avenue with friends and
watch football games. He had a great sense of humor. He is remembered fondly as a
practical joker as well as a decent character, who remained throughout his life the
legacy of Rickrode solidarity as the oldest son of the nine Rickrode siblings.
His presence in the life of his brothers, sisters and extended family will be missed.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Lucille and Bob, his daughter Barbara, his
wife Sheila and sister Carol Rickrode.
Bobby is survived by his son, Robert “Chooch” Rickrode III., and seven siblings,
Diane Garren, Ed Rickrode (Celise Schneider), Annette Reslink, Mary Amatangelo
(Tony), Geri Mari Rickrode-Osborne (Beth), John Rickrode, Billy Rickrode, and
numerous nieces and nephews, who he was very proud of.
A Memorial Service will be held privately for the family.
