Joseph Howard Matthews III

Joseph Howard Matthews III, age 47, of Southwest, PA,  passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 in Erie, PA.  

Born May 5, 1969 in Jeanette, PA, he was a son of Joseph Howard Matthews, Jr., and Sandra Lee (Ritter) Matthews.

Joseph was married to Lori L. Welshhans on September 15, 2007.

Joseph loved spending time with his family.  He was a hard worker, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. 

In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by 2 sons, Joseph Ryan West of Dawson, PA, and Shane Michael Matthews of Scottsdale, PA;  3 daughters, Abriana Hartz of Ruffsdale, PA,and Hanna Matthews and Kyndra Matthews, both at home.  He is also survived by 1 brother, Michael D. Matthews of Greensburg, PA; 2 sisters, Jennifer Matthews of Pittsburgh, PA, and Melanie Mathews of Jones Mill, PA; 1 grandchild, and several nieces.

There will be no viewing or visitation.

A memorial will be held at his brother's home in Greensburg, PA., on Saturday, October 1, 2016, at 4:00 PM.

Askins Cremation Funeral Services, 8354 Wattsburg Road, Erie, PA, 16509 is assisting the family with arrangements.
