Linda D. Jennings
Linda D. Jennings, age 69, of Erie, formerly of Yorktown, VA, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2016 surrounded by her family.
Born on January 26, 1947, in Richmond, VA, she was a daughter of the late James C. Dyer and Bertha M. Dyer.
Linda received her B.A. of Fine Arts from West Georgia College and earned her Specialist Degree in education from William and Mary with induction into the international honor society, Kappa Delta Pi.
Early in her career, her employers include Liebherr-America, Zack Zwecker & Co., and Ted Turner. Subsequently, she became a customs broker, working for her father at Wilfred-Shade and Company, and J.C. Dyer and Company, before opening Eastport Customs Brokers with co-owner Margaret Adams. This was the first female owned customs brokerage business in Hampton Roads and recently won the small business award from Jefferson Lab.
She was a very active member of Saint Luke's United Methodist Church of Yorktown, VA, where she enjoyed singing in the church choir. She was a member of the Eastern Star and an avid reader. Lindaloved being on or near the water, and was very involved with the local Coast Guard Auxiliary. She enjoyed vacationing in Nags Head, and later, Topsail, with her half-sisters, Cathy Smith and Joyce Davis (Aunt Joy).
In addition to her mother, Bertha Dyer, Linda is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Mascia (Brett Mascia) of Erie, PA; her brother, Jim Dyer of Phoenix, AZ; her sister, Cathy Smith of Chilhowie, VA; her grandchildren, Nathan, Matthew, and Elyse Mascia all of Erie, PA, and many nephews.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by Gladys Madden; and her husband, John Jennings.
Visitation for friends and family will be from 9:00 to 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Askins Cremation Funeral Services, 8354 Wattsburg Rd, Erie, PA.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
