Donald Daryl Hetrick
Donald Daryl Hetrick, age 84, of Erie, passed away on October 29, 2018.
He was born March 7, 1934 in Mifflin Twp., PA, son of the late Roland Daryl and Ida Lillian (Aikins) Hetrick.
Don grew up in Brookville, PA, graduating high school there in 1952. Don symbolized his dedication to serving our Creator, Jehovah God, at an International Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses held at Yankee Stadium July 19-27, 1953. He was instrumental in teaching his children about their Creator.
Don worked in the printing business for many years. He was also an entrepreneur, starting businesses to manufacture fishing lures and replacement car bumpers. If he didn’t have a tool or machine to do a job, he could just make whatever he needed. Don was a very hard worker, skilled in many trades. He could also play the fiddle, mandolin, and guitar. Don was known for his kindness and generosity, willing to help anyone in need.
Don is survived by his three sisters, Helen Conte of Brookville, PA, Betty Giampalmi of Hemet, CA, and Linda Duda of Albany, OR, and his one brother, Bob (Jennifer) Hetrick of Transfer, PA. In addition, he is survived by his 5 children, Debbie (Richard) Cassella of Edinburg, PA, David Hetrick (Lori Johnson) of Erie, Randy (Deb) Hetrick of Canfield, OH, Susan (John) Fisher of Sebring, FL, and Sherri (Gabriel) Smith of Erie. He is also survived by his former wife, and mother of his children, Nancy Hetrick, of Sharon, PA, and one aunt, Thelma Petrick, of Erie. He is further survived by 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Edith Hicks, of San Jacinto, California.
His children would like to acknowledge and thank Bob Blinzler and Louis DeFonsey for the kindness and help they gave their father.
Don requested not to have a memorial service. His children are honoring this request.
