Gary A. Schroeck
Gary A. Schroeck, 62, of Erie passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018 after an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his parents Jeanne Weber Schroeck and Kenneth G. Schroeck.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Marlene (Gresh) Walker Schroeck; Gary’s children, Kelly Schroeck (Scott) Brown, and Kyle Schroeck; and his grandson, Landon Schroeck, all of Orlando, FL. He is also survived by his stepsons, Brian Walker of Atlanta, GA, Chris Walker, and Doug Walker Jr. of Girard, and three step-grandchildren, Alexis Walker, Kevin Walker, and Miranda Walker. He is further survived by his siblings, David G. Schroeck, James P. (Kate) Schroeck of Erie, Barbara Schroeck (Ron) Torrance of Sarasota, FL, Marianne Schroeck (Brett) Frederick of Hilton Head, SC; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Gary was a lifetime Erie resident, attending Erie St. John’s Grade School, playing basketball and winning a State Championship. Gary attended Tech Memorial High School enjoying basketball (#82). He proudly continued education as an auto mechanic, where he received the G.M. Master Technicians Certification in multiple disciplines.
If Gary fixed it, it stayed fixed. He was a master mechanic. His career included working at Jet Oil Co., Dave Hallman Chevrolet, Rick Weaver Buick, and most recently 22 years at EmergyCare as an Emergency Fleet Mechanic until his career was cut short by cancer.
Gary greatly enjoyed spending time with his wife, Marlene, going to car shows and meeting with his many friends, always talking about their cars. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Brothers Gary and Jimmy were inseparable in many ways; enjoying each other’s company in all aspects of life. Gary will be greatly missed.
