Denise Marie (Zingelewicz) Hlawati
Denise Marie Hlawati, age 70, of Erie, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2024, after a 6-month battle with cancer. She was born in Erie, PA on May 15, 1954. She was the daughter of the late Vance and Rita (Wisinski) Zingelewicz.
Denise left her job as a receptionist at a doctors office to focus on her family and raise her children. She eventually went on to work again later on, but her family is what she was most proud of.
If you knew Denise, you knew her love for shopping. She couldn't pass up a good deal and she often bought multiples. She had quite the eclectic collection. If you couldn't find her at one of her favorite stores, she was sure to be on the porch of the house they built 35 years ago. Her porch was her happy place. Whether it was sitting to enjoy a beautiful day or watching the moon come up (she loved the moon), this was her favorite place to be. She loved watching her grandchildren play in the front yard while she drank a cup of coffee. She also enjoyed making jewelry, taking care of her flowers in her garden, and playing Bingo at Belle Valley Fire Department.
In addition to her parents, Denise was preceded in death by her brother, Scott Zingelewicz; husband of 43 years, James Hlawati; and beloved son, Nicholas Hlawati.
Survivors include her sister, Karen Schutz; daughters, Melissa Diaz, Elisabeth Harding, and Jennifer Walker; and the lights of her life, her grandchildren who knew her as Grammie/Vivi, Ayden Hlawati, Morrighan Hlawati, Gabriel Diaz, Trey Kitelinger, Liam Harding, Delaney Harding, and Makenna Harding; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Denise did not want a funeral service nor a celebration of life, instead she would have rather everyone spend time with their families and loved ones making memories to remember forever.
