Melody Ann (Peterson) Shreve
Melody Ann Shreve, age 51, died after years of fighting bravely against ongoing illness, Monday, August 19, 2024. She was born in Union City on November 9, 1972, the only daughter of the late Guy and Carolyn (Shaffer) Peterson.
Melody graduated from Union City High School in 1992. Following graduation, she met and married the love of her life, David L. Shreve, Sr. They got married on March 27, 1993, before settling down and starting a family. Melody was a beacon of light, always ready with a listening ear or an infectious smile that could light up the room and make you feel right at home. In her spare time, Melody loved crafting, scrapbooking, and gardening. She was especially fond of listening to classics, like Meatloaf and AC DC, in her late brother’s car.
Among all her roles, being a devoted mother and grandmother brought her the greatest pride. She was known for her warm, comforting hugs and wise advice. The heart of every gathering, she loved to host and took immense joy in preparing meals for an army of family and friends. Late night conversations around the kitchen table were a cherished memory for her. Melody was a constant source of encouragement, boundless love, and unwavering support.
Her family was the center of her world, and she loved them more than anything. She was the glue that held her family together, and she will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her older brother, Kevin Peterson, and her sister-in-law and dear friend, Eve Shreve.
She is survived by her husband of thirty-one years. She is also survived by her children, Samantha Hungerford (Timothy) of Emigrant, MT, Chris Peterson (Brittney Hildum) of Union City, PA, David Shreve Jr. (Jenna) of Spartansburg, PA, Jessica Shreve (Kyle Deutsch) of Lake City, PA, and Cameron Shreve (Lexi Geer) of Cambridge Springs, PA; her beloved grandchildren, Madisyn, Liam, and Carolyn Marie; her brothers, Steve Peterson (Sandy) and Randy Peterson (Danise); and was a “second-mom” to several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by many other family members that loved her dearly.
In lieu of a traditional funeral, a Celebration of Life will be held in honor of Melody to commemorate her remarkable journey and the joy she brought into our lives. Details of the celebration will be announced at a later date; however, the family invites all who knew and loved Melody to come celebrate in this meaningful tribute to her memory.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at LECOM at Village Square, as well as the doctors and nurses on the ICU floor at St. Vincent Hospital. Thank you for caring for our mother with humility, tenderness, and respect.
Memorial contributions can be made to the family GoFundMe to help cover memorial costs.
