Diane Claire Konkel

Diane Claire Konkel, age 64, passed away at UPMC Hamot on Saturday, May 12, 2018.

She was born in Amarillo, Texas on June 2, 1953 to Raymond Howard and Marilyn Sue (Phelps) Konkel.

She graduated from Academy High School in Erie in 1971.  She worked for many years at the Soldiers' and Sailors' Home of Erie.

Diane enjoyed gardening, camping, reading, and caring for her many dogs and cats over the years.

Diane is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond H. and Marilyn S. Konkel, one brother, Brian, her dear friend Vincent DeSanto, and her ex-husband Kenneth Richter.

Diane is survived by brothers Mark R. (Cynthia) Konkel of Edinboro, Jeffrey D. (Rosemary) Konkel of Erie; sister Rebecca S. Konkel of Fairview; sister-in-law Colleen (McBride) Konkel of Boston, Mass.; five nieces and two nephews Joel, Amy, Stacey, Sarah, Kristen, Brenden, and Kerri; many cousins and great nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to attend a brief graveside service at Erie County Memorial Gardens, 7880 Edinboro Road on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ANNA Shelter of Erie, PA.

Askins Cremation Funeral Services, 8354 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, PA 16509 is assisting the family with arrangements.
