Kenneth "Ken" Myron Sherman
Kenneth "Ken" Myron Sherman, 84, of Union City PA, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on August 26, 2018.
Born in Arbuckle on July 5, 1934, he was a son of Neil C. and Rhea (Robinson) Sherman. Ken grew up a farmer and earned numerous awards in the FFA at the Union City High where he graduated the Class of 1953. Later, Ken served with the US Army National Guard for 6 years. He retired from General Electric in 1989 after a fulfilling 27 year career. After retiring, he joined his wife in her business, Sherman’s Upholstery on Main Street in Union City.
He loved antiquing and garage sales, always searching for unique items. His dream was to own the big victorian house (“The Pink House”) on East High Street in Union City, where he and his wife Judy lived for 20 years.
He was a proud member of the Masons Eureka Lodge #366 of Union City Chapter for over 40 years.
Ken was well know for locating water wells ("witching") in the surrounding area for many years.
He was very proud of his family and his grandchildren were his passion. He had a special place in his heart for all of his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his devoted wife of 57 years, Judith E. (Davis) Sherman, he is survived by a caring son Russell Sherman and his fiancé Sandy Smith; loving daughters Robecca Soety and her fiancé Jay Campbell, and Robin Burns. He is survived by 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, Jessica Sherman Howard and her two children Charlie and Leah, Russell Kenneth Sherman, Samantha Diaco and her 2 children Sophia and Selina, Kelly Burns, and Patrick Burns Jr. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Mary Melnick and Betty Chapman, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by brothers Lawrence, Ted, Basil (Pete), and sister Roxy Yochim.
There will be no formal visitation per Ken's request. Memorials may be made in his name to Union City Museum or Shriners Hospital.
